Michael B. Jordan has been offered the chance to direct a potential Creed 3. The Creed films began in 2015, and star Jordan as the title character while bringing back Sylvester Stallone to his most famous role, Rocky Balboa.

The first Creed was one of the most popular films of 2015. It became the highest-rated Rocky franchise movie on Rotten Tomatoes, eclipsing the original. Critics acclaimed the rise of Adonis Creed, his romantic relationship with Bianca, and continuing the story of Rocky himself. The sequel, Creed 2, released three years later in 2018. Although many fans said the story was generic, it was still a well-received movie with praise going out to the performances. Creed 2 could’ve looked a bit different. An early script draft had the ghost of Apollo Creed appear, and a cut scene would’ve had Rocky and Drago duke it out in the hospital. Now, fans are wondering when Creed 3 will release. When it does, it seems like Jordan could be given the directing job.

Irwin Winkler, producer of both Creed films and the original Rocky series, recently wrote a book titled, A Life in Movies: Stories From 50 Years in Hollywood. In the text (via Men’s Health), the producer revealed that he “promised” Michael B. Jordan an opportunity to direct Creed 3.

The Creed 3 teases don’t end there. At the Toronto International Film Festival during the world premiere of Just Mercy, a reporter from Entertainment Tonight asked Jordan about Creed 3. Jordan’s answer will please fans. According to him, Creed 3 is “definitely” going to happen, but he doesn’t know when.

Last year in a conversation with our Creed star Michael B. Jordan, I offered him the opportunity to not only star in, but also to direct Creed 3.

Many fans are asking what the story of Creed 3 will be about. Although well-received, the film team will probably want to avoid a storyline like the second film. It also doesn’t seem like Stallone will reprise his role as Rocky. Back in November, Stallone posted a farewell to his character. Interestingly, Stallone said in May he had an idea for a seventh Rocky film. So, it’s up in the air at the moment with the iconic character. Nonetheless, it sounds like Creed will be coming back for a third installment sometime in the future, and fans can’t wait to see what it brings to the table. If Stallone indeed doesn’t return, this will be the first time Jordan carries the story without Rocky.
