CUESA, or the Center for Urban Education and Sustainable Agriculture, has been making large strides in the food and AG space for 25 years. They have managed the Ferry Building Farmers Market since the nineties, as well as the Jack London Square Farmers Market and Mission Community Market more recently. With an ambitious goal of supporting a healthier world by way of “environmentally sound, humane, economically viable, and socially just food systems,” their daily work is no small task. Yet, the effortlessness and excitement that one feels in attending their events, such as last night’s cocktail party, is palpable.

Some of the all-stars from last night’s soiree were chef Tanya Holland, San Franciscan Bartender Alicia Walton, James Beard Foundation Award nominees Reem Assil and Rachel Aronow, amongst a long list of other envelope-pushing female innovators in the food and restaurant industry.

This event served as a bit of a teaser for CUESA’s big 25th birthday bash coming up on June 10th, also to take place at the Ferry Building. This coming event will feature a plethora of chefs, bartenders, innovative farmers, and other game-changers in the industry. That, along with unlimited drinks, live music, and more will make the big 25 a year to remember for certain. Tickets available here.

On a grander scale, health is a ceaseless topic of popularity in a city such as San Francisco. To break it down in simple terms, the future of humanity lies in how we feed ourselves, and what sustainable advances we can establish in that regard. To be smarter, healthier, more socially sound citizens? Now, that’s a reason to feast.
