The Cyberpunk 2077 world map size has been partially revealed in a new Deluxe Edition art book made by developer CD Projekt Red for the game, and it reveals a complicated Night City layout that will likely also be much bigger than it looks. CD Projekt Red has already discussed Cyberpunk 2077 map size in the past, revealing that the game will be smaller than the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, while also providing strong reasoning for why that design decision will benefit the game when it finally releases in early 2020.
Cyberpunk 2077 is hands-down one of the most anticipated games of 2020. Although the game had to navigate a fair amount of controversy in the early build-up to its release, it has since managed to right the ship while also offering some solutions to consumers who had issues with the game’s depiction of gender. Since then, much of the discourse surrounding the game has centered around Keanu Reeves’ character Johnny Silverhand, who has completely taken over as the main marketing avenue for the title and continues to drive fan interest despite having barely been featured in story reveals up to this point.
If the map looks small, it probably isn’t, and there’s much more that isn’t being shown with a flat layout. Given that CD Projekt Red has already stated this would be the case as well, fans paying close attention probably weren’t surprised by the scale of the Night City map - although a more in-depth look at street layout and buildings would likely assuage any lingering fears over Cyberpunk 2077 map size. Still, it looks like the map is still only a partial representation of what the rest of the world could be.
From the looks of it, the Cyberpunk 2077 world map will be a marked departure from the way CD Projekt Red has historically designed levels in its RPGs. The sci-fi setting has given the developer a lot to work with, and Cyberpunk 2077 is clearly unafraid to make changes as a result. With just a few months left to go, it feels like the world of Cyberpunk 2077 could revolutionize RPG design if its emphasis on level design pays off the way CD Projekt Red is hoping.
