The co-host of Dancing with the Stars, Erin Andrews, has called out trolls who criticized her body and style in an epic social media smackdown. The offensive comments were a result of a pair of glittery green pants Andrews wore on Dancing With the Stars.

The trousers were olive green and clad in sequins. Andrews paired them with a black blouse, open-toe heels, and statement earrings. Although it was surprising to see her in something other than her signature evening gown or cocktail dress, Andrews’ sartorial choices on the show have been consistent with or complementary to each week’s theme. The statuesque blonde looked the picture of confidence as she interviewed the performing couples in her daring ensemble - little did she know that there was a controversy brewing.

During the broadcast on October 22, a Twitter troll sent Andrews a critique of her style choice, it read (via People): “Those are the most hideous baby s#it green metal flake pants I have ever seen. Your bony hips protruding out and your bowlegged stance are not doing anything to make that ensemble any more attractive dear. Whomever let you wear that should be ashamed of themselves.” Andrews’ father defended his daughter with a pitch-perfect clap-back: “Mary, I hope your daughter is never subjected to such a classless remark. Sending positive thoughts your way.” The story didn’t end there. Once Andrews was made aware of the troll, she then defended herself, repeating her father’s sentiments while chiding the heartless, unwarranted insult - see Andrews’ response below:

After calling out her hater, Andrews’ followers jumped to her defense as well. Aside from standing up to bullies, The Dancing With the Stars hostess has been fast at work developing a clothing line called WEAR. The fashions - created in conjunction with NFL Consumer Products -are geared towards female sports fans and offer them age-appropriate options to cheer on their teams in style.

The most disturbing thing about Twitter troll’s comments is that Andrews’ body is not up for public consumption. This woman sued a peeping Tom for spying on her while she walked through her hotel room naked. So, for anyone to concern themselves with the clothes on her body or the curve of her hips is unconscionable. In the future, Andrews should worry less about the blind criticism of an ignorant stranger and continue living her fabulous life as Dancing With the Stars’ co-host. Regardless, Andrews’ green pants are distinctive and elegant - just like the woman herself -and should be celebrated, not ridiculed.
